The Indian car market started moving towards success since 1940s. Originally we had to relay on the foreign technologies but slowly with new inventions and hard work. But today the India carries its own technology in making cars. The Indian car industry does not lag behind in terms, whether it is technology, design or creativity.

Many car manufacturers have supported in the growth of Indian car industry and some of the major car manufacturers in India are Maruti Suzuki, Hindustan Motors, Tata Motors, Mahindra, and Mahindra and other foreign carmakers that have also made as top car manufacturers in India are Toyota, Ford, Maruti Suzuki, Skoda, Hyundai and Honda.

Indian based car manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra is the part of the US $6.7 billion Mahindra Group. Set up in 1945 as Mahindra and Mohammad, was the first to introduce jeep in India. Later when India got independence the name was changed to Mahindra and Mahindra as Ghulam Mohammed migrated to Pakistan.

Hindustan Motors

Established in 1942, Hindustan Motors Limited (HML) was founded by Mr. B.M. Birla. Is the largest car manufacturer in India even before the before the birth of Maruti Udyog. It is the producer of the famous Ambassador car- the king of yesteryears that was widely used as a taxicab and as a go vernment limousine. Hindustan Motors has a joint venture with Japanese car manufacturer Mitsubishi Motors that roll out their models in India.
